Is my body broken?
It’s only Day One of your menses, and here it goes again: the cramping, back pain, headache, fatigue, and intense bleeding that hit you like a hurricane. All you want to do is curl up in bed and go back to sleep, but you have to give a big presentation at work this afternoon, and you’re supposed to host a gathering for your women’s group this evening. How are you going to make it through the day, when you constantly feel like you’re going to throw up or burst into tears? Your emotions are all over the place, and you’re frustrated because it’s not like you could have planned for this: Your menses has always been irregular and unpredictable. On top of it all, this period could mean yet another month of trying and failing to conceive a child, and you’re beginning to feel like your body might be broken.
You’ve tried to combat the pain and discomfort at home, but heating pads and handfuls of ibuprofen always fall short. To regulate your menses, your doctor simply prescribes birth control pills, but you’re not sure how you feel about these pills’ effect on your hormones. Plus, you want to get pregnant. As for fertility issues, your doctor has filled you in on ovulation-inducing drugs like Clomid, as well as invasive (and expensive!) treatments like IVF, but your friends have scared you with their stories about the resulting pain, mood swings, and failures to conceive. You’re confused and overwhelmed by all your options. You just want to know how you can feel better during your menses and increase your chances of getting pregnant.
At Kwan-Yin Healing Arts Center, our healing professionals work to balance your cycles with a truly holistic approach. They take all the time that’s needed to hear your entire story.
